First, Open The Level Editor:
- Go into the folder that has your name on it (like the "Mr. Wyrick" folder, except your name isn't Mr. Wyrick)
- Double click on the "videoGameDev" folder
- Double Click on the "learn3D" folder
- Double Click on the file called "Editor"
Now, open the level you want to put the transporter in:
- Click on the "File" menu
- Click on "Open Level"
- Pick the level you want from the list - you should pick level1 if this is your first time making a transporter.
Now put in the transporter:
- Click on door1 in the "Object Selector" window
- Click on the "Game" window
- Press the space bar on your keyboard
- To make the transporter bigger, go to the "Object Selector" window
- Go to the x, y, and z boxes next to the word Scale
- Change the number 1 to a larger number, like 10, in all three boxes
- (Remember, The change won't happen until you click outside of a box)
Now, save your level:
- Go to the "File" menu and click "Save Level"
Now that you have a transporter, you should put a transporter in another level, and then you can connect that level with this one:
- First, open a different level from the one you just put the transporter in
- Then, put a transporter in the level you just opened up (just like you did above)
- Now, if you move forward just a little bit (so that you are in the middle of the transporter), a new window called "transporter 1" should appear
- When a transporter is not connected, the name of the window tells you the name of the transporter, so that means we are working with transporter 1
- Anything in this window that has the word transporter in its name is a transporter - everything else is a level.
- Only levels that have transporters will appear in this window.
- If a level has a transporter that isn't connected yet, that level will show up as a folder (level1 is an example).
- You might have to double click on that folder to see the transporter(s) that it has
- Once you've decided which transporter to connect to, click on it, and then click the Select button.
- The "transporter" window should now look a little different
- The title of the window has changed to transporter 1->level1.transporter 1
- The first part that says transporter 1 is the name of this transporter.
- The stuff after the arrow (->) tells you which level we just connected to, and which transporter in that level we connected to.
- The button that said "Select" before, now says "Deselect"
- If you click the "Deselect" button, it will get rid of the connection between the two transporters.
Now, save your level:
- Go to the "File" menu and click "Save Level"
Now, exit the editor, and try out your transporters in the game
- Go into the folder that has your name on it (like the "Mr. Wyrick" folder, except your name isn't Mr. Wyrick)
- Double click on the "videoGameDev" folder
- Double Click on the "learn3D" folder
- Double Click on the file called "Run"
